Should Korea Restrict a Homosexual Marriage?
A homosexual marriage is the freedom of the individual, but Korea restricts it . In my opinion, Korea should legalize it for three reasons. First, homosexual marriage is legality in constitution. According to Article 36 of the Constitution, marriage and family life should constitute the basis of individual dignity and equality of gender and maintain, also nation guarantees it. 'Gender' in this constitution means man or woman, just not man and woman. It means constitution allows not only heterosexual marriage but also homosexual marriage. Constitution is prior to all other laws, so Korea legalizes homosexual marriage. Second, homosexual couples have problem that heterosexual couples do not have. They aren't allowed basic human right like property, inheritance and so on. They need couple's report of marriage for basic human right, but Korea shouldn't recognize their marriage. '김조광수-김승환' couple, open homosexual couple, also shouldn't get recognition. They took legal action against report of marriage in 2013, but the court shouldn't judge the trial yet. Third, many people said "homosexual marriage reduces birth rate," so they insist that Korea shouldn't legalize it. It's right that gay couples can't get pregnant, but homosexual marriage don't reduces birth rate. According to KBS Broadcast Culture Research, the number of homosexual per the total population is 1.9%. Maybe homosexual couples are smaller than that. The birth rate decrease because of the average number of children per household, not homosexual marriage. According to National Statistical Office, the average number of children per household in Seoul is 0.968. It means hetero couples don't give birth well. Beside, lesbian couples can give birth through a sperm bank. According to NEWSKOREA, lesbian couple gave birth quintuplets[1] through artificial insemination in Australia. As a result, Korea has no occasion to restrict homosexual marriage and should legalize it in the near future.

Hi Hongsik!
답글삭제I read your post interestingly! I virtually agree with you! I think that homosexual marriage must be allowed too. It is because they are human, so they have right to live as an ordinary people. Some people regard it very awful things but I cannot understand them. In my thought, homosexual couple just love each other as the same way that heterosexual couple do. For this reason, I really agree to your opinion.
I think if you add some image about information graph, such as research, it could be better post. Because the reader can read and understand your post more conveniently. Your citation is quietly concrete. I think I have to try to do more concrete too.
Thanks,
A-hyun
Hello Hongsik,
답글삭제I read your paragraph impressively! I agree with you. Homosexual marriage don't fit traditional values in Korea, but it is not more important than their human rights. I think we should all cheer for them. :)
Thanks,
Heeju
Hi HongSik,
답글삭제I was surfing the masterblog list and chose to comment on your blog since your topic seemed interesting to me. I didn't know that there were 1.9% homosexuals in Korea. I believe that is not a small number to deny. Before reading your paragraph, I also had a hope for homosexuals to live freely in Korea, but after reading your post, I became more strong supporter of legalizing the law for homosexuals. However you have used 'shouldn't' very often in your paragraph which somehow change the overall meaning of your sentence. Some sentences are actually supporting the current law for homosexuals like line 10. Hopefully you could alter those bits and get good grade for your final. Good Luck.
Thanks.

Dear Hongsik,
답글삭제I absolutely agree with you. Why is a homosexual marriage such a big problem in Korea? I think there are too much confirmed conservatives who does not approve homosexuality in Korea. They need to change their perception of the homosexual marriage. However, it’s hard under our present social conditions… What a pity! The homosexual marriage should gain general acceptance as soon as possible. Anyway, because your examples are very specific, it helped me understand well. Also, you used abundant vocabulary words, and I like that. :) However, You'd rather write 'restricts' instead of 'restrict' in the first sentence, 'constitute' instead of 'consitute' in the third sentence, and 'doesn't reduce' instead of 'don't reduces' in the 14th sentence of your paragraph. I wish you could change it until the final draft. Also, if you add a related chart about third example, your writing could get more reliability.
Thanks,
Hyewon Shin
Hi Hongsik,
답글삭제The topic you have chosen is very intriguing, and it is a subject still under debate. As you mentioned above, homosexual marriage in Korea is restricted in law. By the way, did 김조광수 and 김승환 couple, homosexual couple marry? If they did, how could they get married? In the final draft, I hope you to write in more detail to understand better. Lastly, it would be better if you change "should consitute" to "should constitute".
Sincerely,
Doyeon
